Louisiana Homes & Gardens Design Awards 2008: Room Design: Child’s Room and Nursery

Room Design – Child’s Room

Maria Barcelona Interiors

Taking center stage in this adolescent room is a black and white drum shade light that was chosen to accent and complement various aspects of the overall sleek design. The multicolored custom-made bedding, white platform bed with a built in storage drawer below, and dark ebony wood floors are just a few of the details that give this space its particular flair. A white chenille mini sectional sits in the corner creating a perfect spot to surf the web or hang out with friends, while the “super shag” rug adds texture to the clean contemporary feel. A geometric design painted on the walls pulls the room together to complete the look.

Room Design – Nursery

Billie Comeaux

A blushed pink and buttercream palette accented with a light stripe detail was selected for the walls to achieve a soft nurturing ambiance in Taylor Elizabeth’s nursery. Custom-made tone on tone bedding and drapes, a refurbished carousel lamp, a hand stitched cloth mobile, and a crown of fabric positioned to cascade down over the crib are just a few of the details that further enhance the rich coziness of this sacred space. ✦
