Interior Design – Contemporary

Susanna Kost Interior Design

The Simon residence living room serves as the home’s formal seating area but remains comfortable and playful thanks to the over-sized and unique furniture positioned within it. In addition, the owner’s musical instruments and original art collection enhance the eclectic and contemporary feel of the space.

The kitchen design is modern and minimal. The design entailed the complete reworking of the original kitchen’s layout, including circulation into and through the kitchen, the design and fabrication of custom cabinetry, and the installation of a terrazzo floor. The refrigerator and dishwasher are concealed in the wall of the cabinetry, while two ovens and the cooktop are integrated into the island. The custom knife/fork/spoon supergraphic on the wall behind the island brings a playful quality to the modern design.

The Simon residence master bedroom is a contemporary reinterpretation of mid‐century modern décor. The lavender coloring, large cushioned headboard, and mirrored platform add a glamorous quality to the room. The large sliding wall mirror conceals the entry to the master bath and matches a similar mirror on the opposite wall that conceals the entry to the master closet. ✦
