Inspired by the architecture of the tropics, this home in Lafayette’s River Ranch combines cool modernism with casual comfort. Lighter materials such as stucco, limestone, and canvas contrast with the dark wood, iron, and stone accents. Large arched-top trimmed doors enhance the vertical thrust of the great room and create an inviting transition to the outdoor living area and private courtyard. Details such as the graceful curve of the plaster and stucco stair railings and the custom wooden shutters with wide operable louvers combine to reflect a refined yet exotic contemporary home. ✦
