Echelon Interiors
Stacey Davis and June Jackson, the owners of Echelon Interiors, are both clicking away on their laptops. Stacey is working on an ad, searching for appealing photographs of recent projects. June pulls up the promo video of the commercial they have just finished. She smiles as it ends.
“We already have an idea for our next commercial.” June says. “We have applied for the rights to use the music we’ve chosen and then we can go forward with the production.”
That kind of dynamic, creative, multi-tasking synergy is what you get with the team at Echelon Interiors. With more than 30 years’ experience, June, Stacey and their nine-employee team can handle all the details in your home, whether it is a one-room renovation or a whole house new construction: rugs, furniture, custom window treatments and bedding, upholstery, paintings, tapestries, mirrors, lamps, lighting and accessories.
June and Stacey first met when June did the window treatments in Stacey’s home. Since then, they have been friends and eventually decided to parlay their individual successes into Echelon Interiors in order to grow together. While both wear creative and administrative hats, their strengths complement one another to create that Echelon namesake. They almost always work on jobs together, with Stacey handling more of the design-end while June keeps sight of the administrative aspects of the project.
For any job, the two meet with the clients to discuss the scope of the project. If the project is an existing home, the two will make a house call and work with the clients to determine what elements of the room will be incorporated into the “new look”. If the project is a new construction, the team will work with the floor plans to determine what pieces will be added and how things will be arranged. From here, the team and clients can talk budgetary matters. Stacey and June both agree that it is important to openly discuss budget. “Once we are confident that we are on the same page with the client about budget” June said “We can focus on the fun part of the project!”
When approaching a project, Stacey says she looks for an inspiration. “We really try to do a classic, timeless look with an edge,” she says. “We want an elegant look, but we want people to still feel comfortable.”
What sets Echelon apart is the uniqueness of the items they incorporate into their designs. June and Stacey work tirelessly to establish relationships, often-exclusive ones for the Baton Rouge area, with hundreds of vendors. This allows them to bring in large, different, unusual conversation pieces that make a statement of individuality for each project. Typically, they will use a high end piece only once and “retire” it as they look for new pieces.
“I’m obsessed with finding new things,” Stacey says. “That’s my hobby. Take my husband and my son out of the equation and this business is my life. Looking for new vendors and new, unique, cool, things is my hobby.”
Meshing with Stacey’s passion for finding new things is June’s passion for technology and advanced systems. June and the team at Echelon create PowerPoint presentations for each project to show clients so they can visualize how all the pieces work together. She will even do a bit of Photoshop magic, digitally putting a new stone mantel over the photograph of a client’s current lackluster wooden fireplace if it helps make the concept concrete.
Their seamless working relationship makes for 100% customer satisfaction. They manage all the little details to a t, whether it is a client’s project or their own. Their current big project is the construction of their new 6,500-square-foot showroom and warehouse, opening in October.
