Classic Kitchens Etc.: Kitchen ingredients

Written by: Marissa Frayer

When it comes to assembling or renovating a kitchen, it takes the perfect selection of custom ingredients to make the recipe sizzle with style and functionality. With more than 45 years in the cabinet industry and a licensed interior designer on staff, Classic Kitchens Etc. of Metairie can help you make the most of your kitchen, so you can make the most out of family time, cooking and entertaining.

In a visit to their 2,000-square-foot showroom, clients can see Classic Kitchens’ full-range of selections from lines like Omega Cabinetry, Dynasty by Omega Cabinetry, Crystal Cabinet Works and Bentwood Luxury Kitchens. Once door styles, glazes, and colors are chosen, an estimate can be calculated. There are woods to choose from like cherry, maple, oak, pecan, and hickory, as well as wood stains, painted finishes and glazes. Measurements are taken and a floor plan comes together in elevations, 3D perspectives, and renderings.

This design process is where Tara XX’s expertise and license in interior design shine. She works with each client to create the best plan, taking into consideration everything from number of family members to how and where the family members eat. With careful planning, she adds in special features like spice pull out drawers, cookie sheet sorters, peg boards, stainless steel sink tilt-outs for sponges, and the like to optimize kitchen organization and function. And depending on the clients’ wishes, flourishes like corbels, fluted plasters, and crown molding can be added for decorative flair and further customization.

In a recent kitchen, custom was the key word. Classic Kitchens installed 10-feet tall cabinetry to truly custom specifications. All of this particular kitchen’s wall cabinets were 66 inches, more than 24 inches larger than standard size. Televisions rolled out from cabinets above the refrigerator and freezer. To accommodate sizeable entertaining, two microwaves and two ovens were installed, including a 12-foot island. “This was full custom,” Tara XXX says. “There wasn’t a single standard cabinet in there.”

But Classic Kitchens did not just do a custom kitchen for that house. They completed all the cabinetry in the home, including a 13-foot tall custom entertainment center and shelving that wrapped around a curved wall. Custom bookcases were built, including floor-to-ceiling fluted pilasters. Then there were custom bars upstairs and downstairs, as well as custom closets, bathrooms, and pieces of furniture.

Whatever your kitchen or home needs in the cabinet department, Classic Kitchens Etc. can help from idea to installation. Visit Classic Kitchens today to find the right ingredients for your kitchen recipe. ✦
