Stuart Gilly, an owner of Capital Stone Inc., never forgets any stone he puts into a kitchen. At 15 years old, he and his brothers installed their first stone—Dakota Mahogany—into their parents’ kitchen. The Gilly men—Stuart, Leigh, Joe, Andrew, Martin—had taken the advice of an uncle in Bunkie, who suggested they get into the stone business. Started in 1995 as a weekend-warrior company, Capital Stone Inc. has grown into a thriving 15,000-square-foot operation with a 50-employee staff rooted in high standards of quality, service, knowledge, and integrity.

Offering custom residential and commercial countertops, flooring, backsplashes, bath vanities, tub surrounds, shower enclosures, and more, no job is too large or too small at Capital Stone. Specializing in all natural stone materials, Capital Stone has a wide selection including granite, marble, travertine, limestone, onyx, soapstone, slate, and quartzite. Their stones are quarried from all over the world, from here in the United States all the way to China and nearly everywhere in between. Manmade, color-consistent quartz surfaces and eco-friendly PaperStone are also available.

“A lot of our residential customers come in just wanting countertops,” Sharp says. “When it’s all said and done, after they’ve had a good experience with us, we’re doing their flooring and backsplash as well as their master bathroom. It’s never just the customer comes in, fills out a sheet of paper, and leaves like a take-out order.”
