A Pipe Dream Realized: Committed to quality, service, and experience since 1901
In 1901, Louis Davidson set out to realize his dream. Born in Russia in 1881, Davidson dreamed of a future in a foreign land that was much brighter than that of his ancestors. At the ripe age of 20, he boarded a ship bound for America with a resolute will to succeed. Fast-forward to 2008, and Davidson’s modest pipe dream has since evolved into one of the nation’s largest privately held entities, Southern Pipe and Supply Company.
Having spent four generations within the plumbing, heating, and air conditioning industry, the Davidson family has witnessed the evolution of trends and the development of countless manufacturing techniques that have revolutionized the business. It was not long ago when customers had only two options—chrome or polished brass—when it came to kitchen and bath fixtures. Yet today, the possibilities are endless. In response to this progress, Southern Pipe and Supply Company expanded upon Louis Davidson’s original vision and launched Southern Bath and Kitchen designer showrooms in 2003. The idea was to offer the most complete selection of products available for these areas of your home or business, while also focusing on the quality of the customer experience.
Walking into the newly opened Southern Bath and Kitchen of Baton Rouge is comparable to entering into a designer’s oasis. The personalized attention from the friendly staff and the wide range of colors, styles, and materials for everything bath and kitchen combine to make this a pleasurable, serene experience rather than a dreaded chore. “From the moment a customer walks in, our goal is to make the whole process fun and positive. That is where we differ from most plumbing suppliers. Many customers arrive assuming that this will be another headache like many aspects of building or renovating can certainly be. After a few minutes talking with them, walking through our space, selecting their fixtures, they realize that they are actually enjoying themselves,” says Todd Alleman, showroom manager of the Baton Rouge location. “We built this for the customers, knowing and anticipating how they would like their own baths and kitchens to feel, then translating that feel into every aspect of our showroom,” continues Alleman.
In this day and age, renovating a bathroom or kitchen is an expression of personal style and for most, it is also the fulfillment of a decorating dream. No one knows this better than Southern Bath and Kitchen. A customer may prefer a more contemporary style that focuses on clean, uncluttered lines; or, they may tend toward the tailored and classic elements of traditional style; or, they may have their own unique ideas of how their bath should function and feel. In this case, they may opt for a customized shower or spa. “The only limit is your imagination. You can do most anything in plumbing these days,” confirms Alleman. So now the only question left to ask is, “What’s your pipe dream?” ✦
